31.3. - 2.4. Blumenau - Treze Tilias / Dreizehn Linden

The bus did not catch up the time we had lost in the traffic jam and so we arrived 1,5h late in Blumenau. We bought a telephonecard and rung up Wolnei, who soon later picked us up together with his mum Alzira. They took us to their house a bit outside of Blumenau in Pomerode. We had a shower, had breakfast and started to get ready for the day. First his mother went to a Pilates session and we walked from there to a german style Restaurant. We talked german to the people there and the boss of the restaurant put an Austrian flag on our table. We had a nice beer there and were then joined by Wolneis mother again to do a sightseeing roadtrip through the neighboring also german founded villages. Then we went home to get some rest, as we still were tired from the night spent on the bus. Later in the evening we walked a bit through the center of Blumenau. From there we drove to a brewery (which is called choperia or "Schopperei" here) which name was Eisenbahn. We had some Eisenbahnbeer together with also two of Wolneis cousins and an aunt. After that we went to a pizzeria to eat brazillian pizza. It was maybe the heaviest pizza I ever had. It is very thik with a lot of topping and cheese plus chese in the crust. The others put also loads of myonese on top. After the main pizza we had a sweet pizza with chocolate and strawberry. Sonds strange tastes very well! :)

We got up early and drove together with Wolnei and his cousin Alexandrei towards the coast. First we went to Itajai where Wolnei is working. We continued to Balneario Camboriu which looked like Nice at Cote d'Azur and then to Florianopolis. We picked up Wolneis sister Gabriela, who studies there and continued to a very nice beach. Florianopolis is located on an island connected to the mainland by several bridges. It has nice beaches and even a lake separated from the sea by sanddunes. So one can chose to swimm in the lake or the sea and it's possible to surf some waves or to sandboard down the dunes. We went to the dunes and had a big fish mix as lunch at a nice restaurant at the seaside bottom. It was really good (and expensive). We then drove home again and took a rally nice road through the woods for the last half hour before we had a stop at Alexs' farm. A really nice place where he has several animals, including two horses and many different kinds of fruit. We also had some fresh sugarcane there which tasted really nice. Then we went home and Alzira showed us a book her sister wrote, which describes where the german ancestors came from and how they had lived in Blumenau and the surroundings. We went to bed early.

This morning Wolnei left at 5:30 to catch his bus and we again tried to find a better bus connection than the suggested one to Treze Tilias. We did not really succed and ended up buying tickets for the bus to Videira without knowing how to get on from there. Waiting for the bus we spent another two hours walking through Blumenau. We left Blumenau at 12:25 and had a nice ride through hilly green landscapes which could be in upper Austria. The bus arrived, of course, late in Videira and although the bus driver first said that there gonna be another bus to Treze Tilias there wasn't. We negotiated with the people at the Rodoviaria about possibilities and as we did not want to spend the night there they suggested to take a bus to Ibicare and to take a taxi from there. We discided to take the chance and as this bus was also late finally left Videira at 19:30. It was dark outside and we were really curious how this will go on. It looked more and more like there gonna be no taxis and we will be droped of at some crossroads in the middle of the fields. Well it turned out better than expected and the bus stoped at a small Rodoviaria with only 3 bus parking positions. The station, one room with a shop, bar and billiardtable, was closed and there was no one, except for an old lady who got of the bus with us. She looked at us and asked "Wollen Sie auch nach Dreizehn Linden?" - "Do you also want to go to Treze Tilias?". SUch an coincidence. She was from Treze Tilias and had worked in Austria for 10 years in Tirol and VOrarlberg and her daughter is still living there. She said that her sister in law will pick her up and that there might be space in the car. There was and we had a nice ride to Treze Tilias. And it was more than the 12 km the people at Videira told us. The two women asked us where we want to stay and we let them choose and told them that we are students and don't want to spend too much. They brought us to the hotel "Dreizehn Linden" and knew the boss there, as everyone knows there everyone anyways. And all of them spoke german. :) We got a good price for a nice room and she brought us two toasts and two bottles of beer to the room as it was already 21:30.
